Vision Of chair

The Vision:
To provide engineering solutions based on scientific research, to contribute in solving the water shortage problem in Jeddah City through improving network operation and management.
The Mission:
To offer professional and highly efficient scientific consultancy and technical support to the water distribution network management.
Primary objective:
To carry out a comprehensive engineering and environmental study of the intermittent distribution system used in Jeddah city. The study will investigate the advantages and disadvantages of this system compared with the  continuous distribution system. The study is intended to be a model which results may be applied to the water network in other Saudi cities that adopt the intermittent distribution system.

Specific objectives:

 - Assessment of current operation system of Jeddah water network, and the determination of Key Performance  Indicators (KPI’s).

 - Comparison of the network performance with that of similar international networks (Benchmarking).

 - Performing hydraulic analysis of the network using specialized hydraulic software (WaterCad) under the current operation conditions and the network design conditions (the continuous distribution system).

 - Collection and analysis of water samples from different water network components to see whether they conform with the local and international drinking water standards, and whether it is affected by the of operation system.

 - Coming up with practical engineering recommendations to enhance the current operation system, such that all users have access to water that conform with the local and international drinking water standards, quantity wise and quality wise.
